BackTransCare Makes the Rounds with TeleNav Track
Aug. 18, 2008Ambulance company improves responsiveness and driver communication with GPS tracking and navigation service
SUNNYVALE, Calif. and BROOKLYN, NY – August 18, 2008 – TeleNav, Inc. today announced that TransCare, the largest ambulance provider in the northeast region of the US, has streamlined its dispatch operations and improved response times with its use of TeleNav Track™, a GPS-enabled Mobile Resource Management (MRM) service.
TransCare offers a wide range of medical transportation solutions, including emergency ambulance services and non-emergency paratransit services for the elderly and disabled, and has over 1,600 field employees and over 200 ambulances. After experiencing challenges with using one-way pagers and radios, TransCare began exploring GPS-based MRM solutions that would allow management to easily locate and dispatch ambulances, as well as integrate within its existing dispatch system. The company chose to deploy TeleNav Track on over 200 Sprint cell phones.
In the highly competitive and time-critical emergency services industry, TransCare saw immediate improvements after deploying TeleNav Track. The solution showed dispatchers exact locations of all ambulances, enabling them to dispatch the closest vehicle when calls arrived. In doing so, the company cut average response times, ensured vehicles were being used effectively and contributed to its bottom line. Additionally, TransCare was able to eliminate its one-way communication pagers in favor of mobile phones that offer two-way communication between vehicles and the back office. This advancement allows management to communicate vital transport information to drivers based on their current locations.
“TeleNav Track has streamlined our dispatch operations,” Jim Ligorski, chief technology officer at TransCare. “It has significantly reduced the amount of time we spend looking for drivers and works seamlessly with our existing communications system. Integration was a key priority for us and TeleNav Track has surpassed all our initial expectations.”
In addition to improved response times, TeleNav Track’s extensive reporting capabilities have allowed TransCare to document its drivers’ activities. The information is time and date stamped, which the company can use if an emergency or problem were to arise.
“Improved responsiveness is one of the most valuable benefits a business owner can receive from deploying an MRM solution,” said Sal Dhanani, co-founder and senior director of marketing at TeleNav. “TeleNav Track gives managers a comprehensive view of mobile employees and equipment, allowing them to know where assets are located at a moment’s notice. This type of information is invaluable in industries where response time is key, and competition among businesses creates the need for exceptional customer service.”
TeleNav Track enables organizations to optimize mobile workforce operations through mobile GPS tracking and navigation, wireless timesheets, job dispatching and wireless forms – all using existing GPS-enabled cell phones. Currently, more than 8,000 organizations rely on TeleNav Track to help manage their mobile resources.
Industry analyst firm Frost & Sullivan recently recognized TeleNav Track as the #1 MRM solution with its 2008 North American Mobility Award for Best MRM Solution on a Handheld Device.
